To
start with Loja, the capital of the Poniente Granadino region, a town where
you can find all type of services, like big commercial centres, hospitals,
good restaurants, discotheques, bars, etc. The cultural aspect of Loja offers
historic monuments and places of great value like the Town Hall, the Church
of La Encarnación or La Alcazaba (fortress), where the islamic heritage
still remains in the narrow lanes. Also, every Monday, there is a large market
offering clothes, shoes, fabrics, ceramics and local products.
Another interesting place is Alhama
de Granada, this town of historical importance, has monuments and places of
great value such as the Church of El Carmen, the Castle, built on an ancient
islamic castle, the Arab Quarter and the Roman bridge among others, a singular
architecture that is worth a visit.
Also the natural area of Tajo de Alhama is ideal for walking along the river
of the same name, touring the interior of a gorge full of dense vegetation
and wonderful views.

Las Calmas is located in the area called Poniente Granadino, which comprises
